BOOK REVIEW #2
The Color Purple by Alice Walker
Plot:
This story is set in South America between the wars and is about a young woman named Celie who was born into poverty and segregation. She ends up becoming separated from her sister Nettie and trapped in a bad marriage. However; she then meets Shug Avery who is a singer, who teaches Celie to discover her own self to free her from her bad past and reunite her with those she loves.
Review:
When reading this story I was truly captivated as it gave me an insight of what it was like for those living in poverty and segregation. This was an easy read as it was set in the style of letter writing, which is something I thoroughly loved about this book. Throughout the book it is emotional and has you gripped.
Overall, I would give this book 5 out of 5! I highly recommend this book to you all, mainly more at women however; if you are a guy I still think you should give it a read. It is a very inspiring book and even made me think about my own spirit and how I should take charge with myself more.
Much love,
Michelle xoxo
